Mary Jane Hawn

Eugene, Ind. – Mary Jane Hawn, 89, formerly of Eugene and a resident of The Waters of Covington in Covington, Indiana, passed away at 7:15 a.m. EDT Monday, July 20, 2015 at The Waters of Covington.

She was born August 28, 1925 in Ridge Farm, Illinois, the daughter of the late Richard and Nellie Fortune Haworth.

She married Jessie M. Hawn on December 20, 1945 in the Horseshoe Community of rural Dana, Indiana. He preceded her in death on November 10, 1997.

Survivors include three daughters, Jackie(Larry)Moore and Donna Laws both of Cayuga, Indiana and Mary Jo(Billy)Martin of Williamsport, Indiana; two sons, Sam(Cindy)Hawn of rural Dana, Indiana and Bill Hawn of Cayuga, Indiana; several grandchildren; great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren and one sister, Elsie Cook of Georgetown, Illinois.

Mary Jane was preceded in death by her son, Richard Hawn; two great granddaughters, Aren and Danielle Cheesman; great grandson, Charles Jackson; two sisters and three brothers.

Mary Jane was the linen room supervisor at the former St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville, Illinois. She was a member of the Eugene United Methodist Church. Mary Jane enjoyed playing euchre, bunco and bingo. She was also very active in her church and enjoyed singing.

Funeral services: 11 a.m. EDT Friday, July 24, 2015 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Officiating: Rev. Jon Overbey; Burial: Eugene Cemetery in Eugene, Indiana; Visitation: 10 a.m. EDT until time of services Friday, July 24, 2015 at the funeral home.
