Donald Lee Canfield, age 72, of Rockville passed away at 6:10am on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at home surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Freeport, IL on November 13, 1942 to the late Fred J. and Lillia F (Eisenbise) Canfield.
He graduated from Shannon High School in IL and proudly served with the 101st Airborne in the United States Army. He married Phyllis (Cooper) Canfield on March 29, 1972 in Rockville. He retired from Inland Paperboard and Packaging INC after 22 years. He attended the First Assembly of God in Rockville; was member of the NRA; was an avid fan of Dale Earnhardt, Larry Bird, and IU basketball; and enjoyed mowing his yard and hanging out with his friends and family.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis of Rockville; two sons, Jerry (Nyla) Young of Terre Haute and Darrell (Angie) Furr of Ft Myers, FL; three daughters, Bonnie (Travis) Herrick of Brazil, Connie (Bill) Sanders of Veedersburg, and Shelly Riggs of Covington; a sister, Bonnie Hartog of Freeport, IL; two nephews; one niece; 18 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Harold and Larry; and sons, Ronald L and Donald J.
Visitation will be from 5-8pm on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at the First Assembly Evangelistic Center, 541 W US Hwy 36, in Rockville. The funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at the church with Tim Henderson and Jerry Bates officiating.
