Gerald “Jerry” C. Spriesterbach, 87, of Covington passed away Friday, April 19, 2019 at 3:25 a.m. EDT at Franciscan Health Lafayette East in Lafayette, Indiana.

He was born September 4, 1931 in Riley, Indiana the son of the late Charles H. and Belva (Cesinger) Spriesterbach.

Jerry married Joyce A. Kramer on January 7, 1953 in Terre Haute, Indiana. She preceded him in death on October 8, 2008.

Survivors include his three sons: Michael (Paula) Spriesterbach of Danville, Illinois; Craig (Jean) Spriesterbach of Cayuga, Indiana and Keith (Nancy) Spriesterbach of Danville, Illinois; nine grandchildren; one great granddaughter; four great grandsons; sister: Barbara Nicoson of Center Point, Indiana; brother: Phillip (Doris) Spriesterbach of Terre Haute, Indiana and several nieces and nephews.

Jerry worked at Olin/Flexel in Covington, Indiana for 40 years, retiring in 1995. He was a Korean War veteran serving with the United States Army. Jerry was a 1949 graduate of Riley High School (Riley, Indiana). He was a former Boy Scout leader. Jerry enjoyed watching NASCAR, Chicago Cubs baseball, Indiana Pacers and Indiana University basketball and Indianapolis Colts football.

Graveside services with military honors and inurnment will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at 11 a.m. EDT at Lower Mound Cemetery north of Perrysville, Indiana. Officiating: Pastor Ann Schwartz. Following the graveside services a Celebration of Life gathering will be held at the Cayuga Community Center. DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana is assisting the family with arrangements.
