INDIANAPOLIS – The family that owns Purdue Pharma is being sued by the State of Indiana. The Sackler family is accused of having a key role in the opioid crisis by enriching themselves through the sale of the painkiller OxyContin at the expense of opioid addicts.

Attorney General Curtis Hill’s office accuses them of improperly diverting company revenues to their personal use.

An earlier suit, still working its way through the courts, accused the company of understating the risks associated with the painkiller OxyContin.

Purdue Pharma has no connection to Purdue University.
