Two From Terre Haute Injured In Cab Crash On I-70

CLAY COUNTY, Ind – Around 2:00 p.m. Monday afternoon Indiana State Police were called to a single vehicle accident on Interstate 70 near the twenty-six mile marker westbound in Clay County.

Troopers say that 31-year-old Kenneth T. Bolinger, of Farmersburg, a mini-van for uCabbi transportation.

Bolinger was taking two people from Indianapolis back to their home in Terre Haute.

For an unknown reason Bolinger drove the van off the south side of the highway striking the barrier wire located in the median. The driver then over-corrected sending it back north across both lanes of Interstate 70.  Due to the force of the impact caused by the van traveling back onto Interstate 70, the front seat passenger door came open ejecting the front passenger onto the south side emergency lane of Interstate 70.  The van finally stopped when it struck an embankment.  The back seat passenger was ejected from the vehicle through the rear window.

42-year-old Lakesha Denton and 18-year-old Antowane Simmons both of Terre Haute were taken Regional Hospital in Terre Haute to be treated for their injuries.

One passenger was later transported to Methodist Hospital by air ambulance.  Neither passenger was wearing a seat belt.

Trooper Kyle Hall said “The accident would have only been minor injuries or just a property damage accident if both passengers would have been wearing a seat belt.”
