VIGO COUNTY, Ind. – At Mondays Vigo County School Board meeting, the board authorized corporation attorneys to negotiate or sue Energy Systems Group LLC to recover damages from the company.

Indianapolis-based ESG has performed over $42 million worth of contracted energy savings projects and other related projects for the school corporation.

Corporation officials say that their research shows that they paid more than industry standards for those projects.

ESG is implicated in the case against former VCSC superintendent Danny Tanoos.  He faces felony bribery charges, alleging he solicited and accepted items of value, including concert tickets and dinners from ESG in exchange for recommendations that ESG be contracted to do work for the school system.

The amount of money that could be recovered could be in the millions of dollars.

Over the years the company has made $11 million in profits on work performed for the corporation.
