VIGO COUNTY, Ind – Special prosecutor, Ann Smith-Mishler says that no criminal charges will be filed in connection to the election case of Tess Brooks-Stevens.

Smith-Mishler said, “Upon review of the documentation received from the Indiana State Police, I did not find sufficient evidence to warrant proceeding with filing criminal charges against any individuals involved in this matter”.

The investigation began six months ago.

During the primary election earlier this year, Tess Brooks-Stephens was listed after Cheryl Loudermilk on the initial ballot but state law says that candidates must be listed alphabetically.

The Vigo County Clerk’s Office said someone made changes to Brooks-Stephens’ candidacy application which caused her to be listed second.

Officials maintain that there was not sufficient evidence to file criminal charges against any individual in the case.
