PARKE COUNTY, Ind – The historic Jackson Covered Bridge in Parke County is open again thanks to the work of five area residents.

Commissioner Jim Meece posted on social media Friday (6/5/20) that Wesley Garrett, Jacob Cole, Mike Wood, Scott McMaster, Buck Vandivier gave up the better part of their day Friday to make repairs to the bridge.

The Jackson Bridge was damaged by a truck that was too big, trying to drive through and damaging overhead support beams.

The Parke County Sheriff’s Office told us earlier today that the person responsible had not yet been identified.

If you know anything about the person that caused the damage, contact police.

The bridge is now reopen to traffic.
