Carol Ann Mellay,71, of Rockville, Indiana passed away Monday, September 7, 2020 at her residence. She was a waitress at Benjamin’s Family Restaurant in Rockville with 16 years of service. She was also employed by the IDOC Rockville Correctional Facility and was a bailiff at the Parke County Jail. She was also a mermaid in Weeki Wachee, Florida. She was born January 17, 1949 in Clinton, Indiana to the late Robert Dale Swaim and Helen Louise Jaco Dooley.
Survivors include one son, Dane (Shirley) Selph of Terre Haute; two daughters, Shawnee (Scott) Porter of Bloomfield and Taylor Lajiness of Rockville; two brothers, Marc Dooley of Montezuma and Scott Swaim of California; one sister, Dawn Swaim Watson of Mooresville; seven grandchildren, Gunnar Porter, Luke Porter, Javen Selph, Heath Selph, Briley Lajiness, Brooklyn Lajiness and Maverick Lajiness; aunt, Betty Farner of Rockville. She was preceded in death by her step-father, Walter Reid Dooley and a grandson, Emerson Reid Scott Martin on January 20, 2016.
She was a graduate of Gulf High School in New Port Richey, Florida. She was a loving mother and grandmother.
Memorial services will be 2:00 pm Saturday, September 12, at Gooch Funeral Home, 112 W. Howard Street, Rockville, with the Rev. Greg Robbins officiating. Memorial visitation is from 12 noon until 2:00 pm Saturday at Gooch Funeral Home.
