Hospitals Are Getting Ready For First Shipments Of COVID Vaccine

INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana hospitals are getting ready for the first shipment of coronavirus vaccines.

If the Pfizer vaccine gets emergency use authorization from the FDA, IU Health is prepared.

Dr. Chris Weaver, senior vice president of clinical effectiveness for IU Health, tells WISH-TV the vaccine could be delivered within “just a few days” of the Dec. 10 meeting.

“We’re going to be prepared and we’re going to vaccine our our team members and other front-line health workers within the county,” Weaver said.

IU Health has already purchased nearly a dozen cold storage units to store the Pfizer vaccine.
