VIGO COUNTY, Ind. – The former teacher of a Brazil, Indiana private school has been arrested.

According to Vigo County authorities, 42-year-old Joshua Dowdy of Clay City was arrested by West Terre Haute Police late Thursday morning. Dowdy is charged on a Level 4 felony warrant for Child Solicitation. He is being held in the Vigo County Jail on a $25,000 bond with no ten percent bond allowed.

Dowdy was caught on a social media site last Saturday attempting to pick up a child who he thought was 13. When PCI: Predator Catchers Indianapolis confronted Dowdy outside a local grocery store, Dowdy fled the scene. The child Dowdy met was actually a decoy. After the video went viral, Dowdy resigned from his teaching position at Cornerstone Christian Academy.

According to Clay County Chief Deputy Josh Clarke, Dowdy could face additional charges once forensic reports return from State Police are complete.

Clarke says the investigation is continuing as authorities from several agencies are working together to piece all the facts together.
