Terre haute, In. – The Terre Haute Convention and Visitors Bureau could benefit from a proposed senate bill aimed at sports tourism. According to a statement released by David Patterson, the Executive Director of the Convention and Visitors Bureau, Senate Bill 245 would place $5 million in a statewide sports and tourism bid fund to provide money for the purpose of organizing and holding sports and tourism events in Indiana. Pointing to the fact that the total available statewide grant funding last year only added up to about $140,000, Patterson said he supports the bill, which is scheduled to go before the Indiana State Appropriations Committee today, marking the first step toward approval.
