VIGO COUNTY, Ind. – The Vigo County Sheriff’s Office reports multiple police agencies responded to a barricaded person in western Vigo County on Monday evening.

The original call around 7:30 p.m. on June 6th was in reference to a medical issue. But while officers were on their way,  “the call turned into a weapon being pulled on a subject at the residence.  Other officers began responding including West Terre Haute Police Department and Indiana State Police,” Sheriff Plasse stated.

Officials report all others in the residence were able to exit without injury.  A special response team was called to the scene considering officers were informed the subject had a firearm inside the residence and he would not exit upon commands.

Sheriff Plasse reports the subject inside the residence, identified as 68-year-old Thomas Quintana, finally exited the home without further incident.  He was transported to the hospital for medical clearance and then transported to the Vigo County Jail and charged with pointing a firearm, criminal recklessness, intimidation and resisting law enforcement.

Other assisting agencies included Terre Haute Police Department’s Special Response Team and Sugar Creek Fire Dept.
