INDIANAPOLIS–The National FFA Convention and Expo is in Indiana again this year, beginning Wednesday. They’ve chosen Indianapolis as the long-term home of the national convention for many years and plan to stay, said Many Hazlett, associate director of Convention and Events, National FFA.

“It’s a no-brainer for us. The partnership works and has been so great over so many years,” she said.

Hazlett said Indy is one of the greatest cities in America for hosting events of all sizes, and the city has done what it takes to make itself a convention-friendly city.

“The fact that we can have almost 90 percent of our events happen in the downtown area, the fact that I can have hotels where I can house our entire audience within 50 miles of the downtown area,” she said.

Gazlett said the walkability is also important, with the downtown being navigable in all kids of weather. She said the dining is also more than adequate.

“From the moment that they step off if they fly here, if they’re coming through on buses, the moment they get to their hotels-it’s that genuine Hoosier hospitality.”

Hazlett said she expects more than 60,000 people will attend this year’s convention, with events at Lucas Oil Stadium, concerts at Gaibridge Fieldhouse, and events at other facilities.

“We’re excited to still be here and continue to be here for many years to come.”

Haz;lett made no mention of having any problem with the state’s new abortion law, which has given GenCon reason for pause when renewing its partner ship with the city.
