MARSHALL- John H. Dressler, Jr., 75, of Marshall, Indiana passed away Monday, March 13, 2023, in his residence.

He was a foreman at Hercules, Inc. for over 30 years, a Correctional Officer for Rockville Correctional Facility, and worked for A-Mark in Rockville.

He was born September 7, 1947, in Staunton, Virginia to the late John Hill Dressler, Sr. and Anne Lilly Evick.

He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Kathy Dooley Dressler whom he married June 5, 2004, in Buchanan, Virginia. Also surviving, one son, J.C. Dressler of Terre Haute; three daughters, Melissa Dressler, Leigh Ann Dressler both of Terre Haute and Kelley (Randy) Lewis of West Terre Haute; four step-children, Josh Doan of Princeton, Kalvin Doan of Montezuma, Kyle (Alyssa Gibson) Doan of Terre Haute and Hayley (Jared Allen) Doan of Montezuma; two sisters, Carolyn Dressler of Covington, Virginia and Janet Lee Fountaine of Staunton, Virginia, seven grandchildren, Mary Anne, J.T., Jordan, T.J., Markis, Zachary, and Jase; eight step-grandchildren, Kamron, Kadence, Keenan, Jaxon, Halynn, Maverick, Jarrick, Hollis, Karley, Austin and Wes; seven great-grandchildren, Brooke, Jameson, Keelan, Lux, Easton, Addie and Lainey; and his furbaby, Macy.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Steven Evick.

He served in Vietnam as a Corporal in the United States Marines where he received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnamese Service Medal with one star, Vietnamese Campaign Medal, Purple Heart Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, Combat Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and a Marksman Badge M-14 Riffle. He loved to bowl, fish, golf and play fast pitch softball.

Services will be 10:00 am Friday, March 17 at Gooch Funeral Home, 112 W. Howard Street, Rockville, with Ted Bradburn officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Garden Cemetery in Rockville with Military graveside honors by Parke County veterans. Visitation will be from 4pm-8pm Thursday at Gooch Funeral Home.
