Woman beaten, suspect arrested

On Friday at approximately 11:30 p.m., an Officer with the Brazil Police Department was flagged down by a female who stated that her friend had just been jumped and battered by another female.

Officers spoke with Delaney Willmore, 20, of Brazil, who said that she was invited over to a residence in Brazil and once she arrived she was beaten by another female that was inside the residence.

Delaney had obvious signs of moderate to severe injuries to her face. An
ambulance was called for Delaney and she was transported to St. Vincent Clay Hospital in Brazil for treatment. Due to the severity of Delaney’s injuries, she was transferred to Methodist Hospital (IU Health) in Indianapolis. On Saturday, Officers with the Brazil Police Department were able to identify the suspect in the Battery as Gavyn Trinajstick, 20, of Brazil.

Officers went to Gavyn’s residence but she had just left in a black Infinity passenger car. A Deputy with the Clay County Sheriff’s Office located the vehicle in the area of County Road 900 North and County Road 50 East and made a traffic stop on the vehicle. Gavyn was located in the vehicle and was taken into custody by Officers with the Brazil Police Department. Gavyn was transported to the Clay County Justice Center and initially charged with Battery Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury which is a Level 5 Felony.
