VIGO COUNTY, Ind –  Vigo County Sheriff John Plasse said that on Monday (1/20/20) a male subject went to the West Terre Haute Police Department after having been shot.

Police say that the incident took place on Woodland Drive in West Terre Haute.

The victim had suffered a gunshot injury to leg, and was treated and released from a local hospital.

Today (Tue 1/21/20) detectives were able to apply for, and obtain an arrest and search warrant.

Along with the Terre Haute Police Department special response team officers arrested 30 year old John Cooper.

He is being charged with criminal recklessness with a firearm, pointing a firearm, and aggravated battery.

Cooper will make his first court appearance Wednesday (1/22/20).
