Wabash Correctional Officer Accused Of Battery On Offender

CARLISLE, Ind – A Correctional officer at the state prison in Carlisle has been arrested.

On February 5th (2020) officials say that an allegation was made against former Wabash Valley Correctional Facility (WVCF) Correctional Sergeant Jeremy McGlynn. The allegation was that he had battered an offender at the facility.

On the same date as the allegation  Correctional Police Officers and staff with the Indiana Department of Correction Investigations and Intelligence Division initiated an investigation and McGlynn was also placed on suspension.

The results of the investigation were turned over to the Sullivan County Prosecutor’s Office on February 7th.

Sullivan County Prosecutors issued a warrant for the arrest of McGlynn on February 14th on charges of Official Misconduct, a Level 6 Felony, and battery, a Class C Misdemeanor.

McGlynn was arrested Sunday (2/16/20) than taken to the Sullivan County Jail.  He was later released after posting bond.

Wabash Valley Correctional Facility Warden Richard Brown commented, “We take allegations of abuse of offenders very seriously, as evidenced by the rapid initiation of an investigation and suspension of the accused correctional officer.” Brown continued, “We have a responsibility to ourselves, and the offenders we are responsible for, to hold our staff to a high standard of professionalism.  While that standard was not met in this case, our definitive action demonstrates we hold our personnel accountable.”

McGlynn began employment with the Indiana Department of Correction on January 9, 2017.  He was most recently working as a correctional officer supervisor at the Wabash Valley Correctional Facility until his employment was terminated on February 9, 2020.
