Terre Haute, In. – By a vote of 5-2, Vigo County School Corporation voted last night to close and repurpose Meadows School in Terre Haute. Board members Joni Wise and Rosemarie Scott voted against closure. Dr. Rob Haworth (Hayworth) made the recommendation… saying that the closing and repurposing is part of a cost reduction plan unanimously passed by the board in January 2020. Board members say the district has been deficit spending, and this is an effort to bring expenditures in line with revenues. With the closing and repurposing of Meadows, the district will be left with 15 elementary schools. Several community members attended the meeting and made their displeasure known. Dr Haworth will be featured on Focus on the Community this weekend on this DLC Media radio station.
