URBANA, IL- Ellyn Yvonne Sumption, 101 of Urbana, Illinois and formerly of Parke County, Indiana passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2023 in her residence with family at her side. She retired from the University of Illinois.

She was born July 20, 1921 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Victor Gladstone Novander and Alpha Louise Carlisle Novander. She was the wife of Merle A. Sumption whom preceded her in death.

She is survived by her daughter Doral Anne Johnson of Urbana, Illinois; 7 grandchirldren, Amanda Gardner, Cynthia Johnson, Beth Davis, Annette Martin, Brett Johnson, Heather Stevenson, and Robert Johnson; several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

She was a 1938 graduate of J. Sterling Morton High School. She supported the Rockville Area Crisis Center and she was a great reader.

Graveside services will be 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 23 at Zackmire Cemetery near Wallace. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Gooch Funeral Home, Rockville.
